Enys Gardens will celebrate the start of the annual Bluebell Festival next weekend with an art exhibition inside Enys House.

The exhibition is an opportunity for visitors to enjoy a diverse selection of work from some of Cornwall's emerging and established artists in the empty estate house at Enys Gardens, Penryn.

Emma Powell- Thomas, events coordinator at Enys Gardens, said: "We are very excited to have such talented artists involved with the art exhibition. It's a great way to celebrate the bluebell season and a great opportunity for people to view and purchase affordable art from a selection of local artists all under one roof."

The event, which takes place from Saturday, April 30, to Monday, May 2, marks the start of the annual Bluebell Festival, which runs through the week and finishes with the Spring Craft Fair the following weekend, Saturday, May 7, and Sunday, May 8.

Enys House offers generous space for each of the artists to display several examples of their work and the 1830s estate house will be filled with art representing a wide variety of styles and techniques, with one thing in common: created in and inspired by Cornwall.

Ms Powell-Thomas said: “Many of the artists are inspired by the local landscapes. Shorelines, cliffs and even bluebells can be spotted in some of the creations, making a Cornish garden such as Enys the perfect location to share the art with the public.”

Falmouth based Jim Carey, a landscape painter who spends half his time painting the Cornish coastline and the other half painting the French countryside, is very excited to be displaying his art in this very different gallery.

He said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for local artists to exhibit several pieces of work in the focal point of these amazing grounds as the ceiling are very high and the wall space generous."

The gardens will be operating with extended opening hours from 11am to 5pm every day throughout the Bluebell Festival.
