The shoreside entertainment programme for Falmouth Week has almost been finalised with boy-band Blue topping the bill and local favourites Rudi's Message returning for another year.

Also signed up for this year are tributes to Bruce Springsteen and the Rolling Stones and there will also be a salsa celebration, a funk and soul night and a musical based around pirates - along with the regular Pink Wig and carnival parties.

The entertainment for the marquee on Events Square has been put together once again by Tim Vigus of South West Bars and Events who is convinced this year's line-up will be as popular as ever and will pull in the crowds.

The fun all starts on Friday, August 4, with Pink Wig Events' party night which raises money for the Breast Care Team at the Royal Cornwall Hospital Truro and the Breast Cancer Campaign. This is followed the next night by the carnival party - a free event which follows the town's marching carnival.

Sunday night's entertainment has yet to be finalised, but Monday will see The Boss, the world's official number one Bruce Springsteen tribute, take to the stage for a night filled with all his best known hits.

Tuesday is billed as a salsa celebration and will feature Felix Baloy and his old mate Ramon Vallejo, a singer and composer, who are back for a reunion UK tour. It promises a unique chance to listen and watch almost the last sonero from the golden Cuban Music era of the Buena Vista Social Club and The Afro Cuban All Stars.

Wednesday is a funk and soul, with a yet-to-be revealed special guest, Thursday will see the return of Cornwall's top ska band, Rudi's Message who last year performed in front of 1,400 people - making it one of the most popular nights of the week.

Friday is the 80s v 90s extravaganza which is always a sell-out and this year will see Blue, with the original line-up of Antony Costa, Duncan James, Lee Ryan and Simon Webbe, take to the stage, along with two other acts, who have yet to be confirmed.

The Counterfeit Stones, said to be "the most famous Stones band in England" according to Mick Jagger himself, will be storming onto the stage on the Saturday evening.

A new Cornish musical, Spirit of the Pirateers, will be launched during the week and is described as "an 18th century treasure chest, unleashing a wealth of powerful pirate songs, music and dance."

The Events Square programme is in addition to all the other events planned throughout the week, including the return of The Red Arrows, the Action Sports Tour and the RNLI fun on the quay on the Wednesday.
