Hundreds of people descended on Mylor's King George V playing field on Saturday to take part in the village's May Fair.

Around 800 people attended throughout the day, to browse the stalls and take part in the community events on offer.

There was a maypole for the children to dance around, stalls selling jewellery and the customary Mylor Mile race.

Mary Richardson, who helped organise the event, said: "It went very well, especially considering the problems we had with the weather earlier in the week.

"We're so well supported by the village, it's a real community asset.

"The local societies run the stalls and the garden club raised over £600 in their plant sale.

"The money goes towards the King George V Playing Field Restoration and Redevelopment Fund.

"On the day the school children started off with maypole dancing, we had about 40 stalls of varying kinds and we ran our own barbecue.

"This year we couldn't get the fair ground rides on the field because of the bad weather so we didn't have as much for the children.

"The whole community supported us, it was great to see people of all ages get together and enjoy themselves while raising money for the playing fields."
