Armed police were called to Market Strand in Falmouth this afternoon after receiving reports of a man with knife. The first call was made at 3pm.

A police officer in full armoured gear and a weapon was seen entering a building on Market Strand while other officers spoke to a man outside.

Eyewitnesses said they saw up to six police units in attendance, including dog units and armed response officers.

One neighbour said that the police were dealing with a man who allegedly brandished a knife and was threatening a neighbour.

The unnamed neighbour said: "I saw all the police turn up and storm into a building."

Another neighbour said: “The armed response officers did not storm my neighbours flat but allowed me to gain entry on their behalf, fearing for his wellbeing after consulting the officer.

“Upon entry, the officers acted with compassion, care and understanding whilst dealing with a difficult situation.

“Acting in a most professional way and I thank them, well done from a concerned neighbour.”
