There was lashings of suncream as well, as the weather shone favourably for an afternoon of fun and games.

Children from years three, four, five and six, took part in a wide variety of games, from hurdles and tug of war to assault courses and the equipment relay, which required teams to take separate items to one end of the course before assembling them to a certain design and racing back.

Head of school Vanessa Parnell said: "It's fantastic that the weather was shining for us today, it's the first time for quite a long time.

"Everyone's enjoying the activities and it's a fantastic family event."
