Tributes have been paid to a man who died following a four vehicle collision on the A39 near Truro last week (26/5).

Brian Hartnell, 83, from Truro died after he was involved in a collision which happened on the road between Kea Corner and Playing Place.

Mr Hartnell's family have now paid the following tribute: "He was the kind of man who gave Christians a good name. Learning to cook for the first time at 83, while nursing his wife through her last prolonged illness; he approached life with a sense of fun.

“His sudden death was a terrible shock, and he will be missed dreadfully by his children and grandchildren."

Mr Hartnell was the driver of a red Vauxhall Corsa which was in collision with a white Peugeot Motor Caravan, a blue Volkswagen Tiguan and a blue BMW 3 series, sometime around 11am on Friday, May 26.

As a result he was taken to hospital where he later died.

The roads was closed for several hours following the crash, as officers from the Roads Policing Team and Serious Collision Investigation Team attended the scene, and police now are appealing for further witnesses to come forward.
