The Hayle and St Ives Community Network Panel will meet next Monday, June 19, when items on the agenda will include the St Ives Business Support Project, water quality and a presentation from Active Plus about their new Who Dares Works scheme.

All residents are invited to attend the meeting which takes place at St Ives School in Carbis Bay between 6.30pm and 8pm. Representatives from the St Ives Business Support Project will be attending to talk about their new Coastal Community funded project to rejuvenate the building below the Malakoff Bus Station.

The building will be renovated and refurbished to provide business support facilities for enterprise, micro and SME businesses, including project staff, hot desks, conferencing, room and facility hire, office accommodation, catering, event organisation, training and networking opportunities.

There will also be a presentation from representatives from Cornwall Council’s environment team about water quality in the St Ives Bay area, with an update on progress and DEFRA water quality monitoring points. In addition there will also be a presentation by Active Plus about their Who Dares Works project which will provide courses, delivered by military veterans from Active Plus, for people in the West Cornwall area who face the biggest barriers and challenges to connecting or reconnecting with education, training and work.

The meeting will also include the annual general meeting when a new chair for the Hayle and St Ives Community Network Panel will be elected.

Rowena Swallow, St Ives business support project director, said: “We're thrilled that the St Ives bid was successful. This is a dynamic business support project which has directly emerged from community consultation around both the St Ives Neighbourhood and Economic Plans over the last few years and we believe it will help promote year-round growth and assist resilience at a local level.”

The Hayle and St Ives Community Network Panel meets quarterly to discuss matters that affect the local community and to agree priorities that can be delivered by Cornwall Council and other agencies including the police and health services. Some of the areas that community networks focus on include anti-social behaviour, economic development, the environment, community planning, regeneration, conservation, community safety, transport and highway issues.

The panel comprises all six Cornwall councillors for the area and representatives of the five parishes in the Hayle and St Ives Community Network - Gwinear-Gwithian and St Erth, Hayle North, Hayle South, Lelant and Carbis Bay, St Ives North and St Ives South.
