A self-described disabled, outsider artist from Breage near Helston will be exhibiting their work in Helston Museum Gallery from June 22 to July 1.

Malcolm Lidbury, aka the Kuriologist, will be displaying mixed media pieces mainly created using reused, recycled and repurposed materials. The artist has used objects from car boot shops and charity shops to create sculptures that show a love of museum 'cabinets of curiosities,' natural history, taxidermy and witchcraft, pagan folklore and Roman and Greek mythology and history.

The Kuriologist said: "[Being] housebound on disability benefits for ten years means a lot of time, but few resources to teach oneself to sculpt.

The artists currently has digital examples of his sculptural work touring at the Bristol Museum, Poole Museum, Cheltenham Gallery and Falmouth art Gallery as part of the Alternative Visions exhibition.

The Helston exhibition, which is free to enter, includes male figurative sculptures created specifically for the UK National LGBT History Month Project - Cornwall Sculpture Exhibition 2016 - suitable for a more mature audience.

The artists has said commissions on the sale of any pieces at the exhibition will help fund the Helston Museum.
