Falmouth Community Football U9s team has had an incredible first season, winning all but three of their matches and beating some of the best teams in West Cornwall.: “This is just the start of something very special," said Stu Luckett, one of the coaches of the U9s. "Next season, we will be fielding not one but two U10 teams and are also planning to introduce an U9s and U12s team. We are also hoping to put together a U11s team, but are looking for more parents to help out."

In addition to this, there is a growing number of girls wanting to take up the sport so there plans to introduce some girls' teams to the group.

To support this incredible growth in the community group, more coaches have come on board, all of whom have now completed their FA level one coaching qualifications.

However, Janine Kennedy, chair of Falmouth Community Football group it isn’t just about competitive football. “In addition to all the new teams being set up, we still have our weekly Saturday training which goes on all year for team players and football enthusiasts who just want to come along and have a kick about, learn new skills and enjoy the sport," she said.

"For some boys and girls, playing competitively isn’t their thing, but we want to make sure that the sport is open and inclusive to the whole of the Falmouth community. "
