The driver of a lorry involved in a crash which left a blind Falmouth woman feeling ‘destroyed’ has pleaded guilty to causing injury by dangerous driving.

Paul Ince, 46, of Leyland, Lancashire, appeared at Truro Crown Court via video link this morning, in relation to the crash on September 2 last year.

He faced one charge relating to the crash, which left Kay Kitto with a fractured spine, femur, tibia, fibula, and knee, as well as requiring skin grafts and having contusions to her head.

Ince has been released on unconditional bail, and will be sentenced at a later date.

At a previous hearing, magistrates heard that on September 2 last year, part of a white DAF truck driven by Ince hit a parked van, sending it into the car of Kay Kitto, who was stood next to it at the time.

Mrs Kitto was hit by her own car, and suffered the severe injuries, the impact of which was described in her victim impact statement, which read: "It's destroyed me, and I barely recognise who I am."

Gavin Morris Bentley, 39, or Cannock, Staffordshire, was charged alongside Ince, but he has yet to enter a plea.

Mr Bentley, as the company secretary of Midland Poling Services, for whom Ince was driving, was charged with aiding or abetting the causing of injury by dangerous driving, and who also entered no plea.
