A teacher recruitment agency wanted to give a little back to one of the local schools it works with, so last week it handed over a cheque for £165.33 to children at King Charles School.
Truro-based Opus-ABC has provided the school with supply staff, but wanted to do more to help. Kyra Bellis, the company's director of business, said: "We try to give back to the community as much as we can. We are very mindful of the current shortfalls in funding for schools down here.
"As part of our commitment to giving back to our local community we want to take every opportunity as frequently as possible to help our local schools with projects they would like to finance but unfortunately can't due to budget restraints."
Kyra, accompanied by recruitment consultant, Chelsea Baron, visited King Charles School last week where they met a group of year six play ambassadors and head of school, Hannah Stevens and handed over their cheque.
The money will be used to buy some new equipment for pupils to use at playtimes and the play ambassadors will have a say on what is bought.
