Following the success of Falmouth School artists who had portrait work shortlisted and exhibited at the Newlyn Art Gallery and The Exchange at the Young People Art Prize competition, there has been further success for student in particular year 11's Jenna Morgan has won the visitors' vote for best piece at the exhibition.

Jenna’s piece was awarded second place by the judge in March, which meant that all shortlisted entries from the previous set of awards would automatically have the chance to exhibit their work to the public in the gallery.

During the public exhibition, visitors to the gallery were asked to vote for their best portrait from the fantastic range of artwork from other schools and young people on display with the votes counted at the end of the exhibition.

Following a count of votes it was announced that Jenna was the recipient of what is a prestigious accolade and also the first entry to have won both a judges' vote and the visitors' vote.

Head of art at Falmouth School, Billie Lee-Smith, said: “The level of work exhibited by all entrants was superb and we’re exceptionally proud of all of the Falmouth students that did so well. It’s a magnificent achievement for Jenna to win both votes and thoroughly deserved.”
