Huge numbers of motoring fans spent the day enjoying all that was to offer at this year’s West Cornwall Motor Show.

At one point the car park at Wendron Cricket Club was said to be full to capacity, as hundreds of people enjoyed the annual event of all things motor.

For the first time in a number of years, Sunday proved to be a dry day for the event, which no doubt helped boost visitor numbers.

There was plenty on offer for them to enjoy, with the field full of classic and vintage cars, bikes and tractors through to more modern-day models.

New to last year was the ‘modified show and shine’ event, which proved so popular that it returned this year.

Donations were taken for Dementia UK and trophies were handed out for selected car categories.

One of the most popular attractions that saw the longest queues was the Formula 1 racing car simulator, which gave visitors the chance to test their skills on two laps of the track at Silverstone – even those not yet old enough to legally drive on actual roads.

It was not just about the vehicles, however, with the entertainment on the main stage providing something for everyone.

Music came courtesy of the Lemonaires sea shanty choir, Wendron Silver Band and RNAS Culdrose Military Wives Choir.

Dance groups the TR14ers and Teresa Blee Dance School also performed, with Penrose Judo Club giving a demonstration.

This year’s headliners were covers band The Catch and comedian turned rapper Steve Heller, famous for his recent spoofs on Helston and Camborne, who went down well with the watching crowds.

There were fairground rides for younger visitors, provided by Ann Raymond Amusements, as well as a range of catering vans and stalls from local producers and organisations.

An accompanying beer festival ran in the clubhouse all weekend, with eight real ales and eight ciders on offer from Friday through to Sunday.
