The Falmouth Fundraising Group for Cornwall Hospice Care held a regatta afternoon in glorious sunshine at the Penmorvah Manor Hotel in Budock on Thursday afternoon.

The committee were dressed in striped tee shirts and white trousers with boaters on their heads which featured a band of ribbon showing the hospices colours.

The afternoon's entertainment included games on the lawn, such as croquet, patang, hopscotch and quoits which kept the younger people amused while indoors strawberries and cream and Prosecco were served in the dining room.

There was a musical duo who played all afternoon and really set the scene and a gondola on each table holding pencils and a game was played by everyone - a sort of regatta bingo - which everyone enjoyed. A raffle with lots of prizes was also held.

Christine Morris, chairman of the group was "very pleased" with the afternoon which raised a total of £496 for the hospices. The group is now taking a summer break but the next fundraising event is on September 20, which is a coffee morning at the Greenbank Hotel.
