Pupils from Falmouth School were among those who took part in Falmouth University's recent CreatEd event, a showcase of creative work by GCSE and A Level students from across Cornwall.

The categories included creative subjects such as graphic design, fashion and textiles and journalism. Falmouth School entered four students into the GCSE dance category - Mollie Reburn, Kensa Wilson, and year 11's Jade Gilchrist and Ethan King.

Jade and Ethan were highly commended for their solos which had been created for their BTEC level two dance exam. It was Jade though who came out on top, winning her dance category overall, with her solo Strange Fruit, which was inspired by the civil rights movement.

Her prize is a day’s workshop with Yskynna Aerial Arts, who sponsored and judged the category, and praised the "creativity and technique" within Jade's performance. The piece will be shown as part of the Dance Partners event on Tuesday, July 11, at Falmouth School.

Falmouth College, the school's sixth form, also entered a further three students for the film and animation award, Ryan Lillie, Alex Ould, and Will McLeod, who was highly commended for his film entitled Entrapped.
