A group of fearless people launched themselves off the tower of the maritime museum in Falmouth recently in support of residents living with dementia at the town's Langholme care home.
The charity abseil had been organised by MHA, who run the home in Arwenack Avenue, as part of an appeal to raise £13,000 to provide pioneering music therapy for all residents with dementia at Langholme. Throughout the day people climbed to the top of the 100ft tower and then lowered themselves over the edge, with the help of experts from Mendip Outdoor Pursuit who oversaw the event.
It is not yet known exactly how much was raised, but it is thought to be around the £5,000 mark.
The home has been offering group music therapy sessions with specially training music therapists and wants this to continue, but needs cash to enable this to happen.
