Mullion Horticultural Society's annual show has been hailed a great success, attracting over 800 entries and even some lovely sunshine following a day or heavy rain.

The entries provided a wonderful show of plants, flowers and vegetables and home produce and handicrafts were particularly well supported this year. Floral art displays on themes including "Cornwall my home " and Vera Lynn's 100th birthday were also much admired.

Entries from the local primary school and YMCA nursery children showed care and imagination, and every primary school child contributed to the display of art work on the theme all creatures great and small, which decorated the marquee.

Over 60 trophies were awarded, and best in show went to Dave Lee for his tray of vegetables. Show manager, Ian Harvey, was delighted with the success of the day: "We have a wonderful team of helpers and supporters" he said. "The show is a real community event."
