Local hoteliers Gaye Woods and Martin Barlow have joined forces once again to support the annual Mawnan Fun Run which takes place this year on Sunday, September 24.

The Budock Vean Hotel and the Meudon Hotel in Mawnan Smith have each donated vouchers for dinner, bed and breakfast for two people which will be awarded to the first male and female over the line in the 10k and 5k races. Last week, they met with Rod Allday, chairman of the Mawnan Fun Run committee, to hand over the prizes. He said: “We are very grateful to both the Budock Vean and Meudon Hotels for their continued support of this popular community event. Both the 5k and 10k races are always very hotly contested and this is largely due to the excellent prizes on offer."

Martin, from the Budock Vean, said: “We are always very pleased to sponsor this event alongside the Meudon Hotel, and we’re hoping that our contribution helps to make this year’s event even bigger and better.”

Over the past five years, the event has raised thousands of pounds for local charities and this year all money raised will be donated to the Falmouth Rotary Club Charity Fund for distribution to local good causes.

Entry fees for the 5k and 10k race are £12 for adults and £9 for under 18s/students. The one mile children’s fun run is aimed at under 12s and costs £4 per person. Online entry is already open and everyone who enters by the closing date on September 17 will receive a medal and goody bag. Further details can be found at mawnanfunrun.org.uk/entries.
