The ladies of Penryn WI decided to revive the group's Flower, Produce and Craft Show and stage it as part of the Penryn Week celebrations.

The show, held in the Temperance Hall, attracted entries from 29 people although not all of the 36 classes, nor all the children's classes, had entries.

The judges, Karen and Bob Bailey, thought all the flower and vegetable entries were "delightful" even though the rhubarb sticks had gone rather limp by the time they were inspected. Louvain Herbert judged the baking and praised the excellent quality of the Victoria sponges. The handicraft judge Lucy Handies had a difficult task with many skilfully made entries in the handmade greetings card class.

Although the organisers agreed the show was more about taking part than winning prizes, there were some awarded. Best in show awards were presented by the mayor of Penryn. Shelley Peters with first prize going to Kathryn Hodge, second to Alison Fry, and joint third to Debbie Herbert and Margaret Whibley. The children’s best in show was won by Lily Peters for her large painting of a butterfly.
