Truro’s annual horticultural event returns next month with the sights and aromas of summer flora filling Lemon Quay.

Garden Truro, co-ordinated by Truro City Council and supported by Truro BID, is returning for its sixth year from August 2 to 5. The day event brings together a mix of traders selling plants and garden accessories along with local organisations that make sure Cornwall is kept looking beautiful and full of wildlife.

The garden marquee will be filled with seed trays and a painting exhibition from local schools. Organisations including Cornwall Wildlife Trust, RSPB, Truro in Bloom and Cornwall Garden Society will also be returning with to help people learn more about what they get up to here in the county.

There will also be local traders selling a variety of crops from flowers and shrubs to handmade willow garden accessories, along with garden furniture and even hot tubs. Meadowside and Burncoose Nurseries will be displaying show gardens providing colour and vibrancy offering the public a chance to talk to the experts and buy locally grown plants.

Truro’s entry in The Britain in Bloom will be judged on Friday, August 4, following the city centre window display competition on the 1st, which this year has a nautical theme to complement the Rhoda Mary Schooner boat displayed on Trafalgar roundabout.

Richard Argall, Truro in Bloom volunteer said: “The best part about Garden Truro is that we can bring our work with the community and Truro in Bloom into the public domain to see exactly what we do. We have been working hard to enhance the beauty of our city with floral displays and green areas whilst promoting an environmental initiative and encouraging community involvement.”
