The St Ives September Festival has revealed Cara Dillon as the headliner for its closing night on September 23.

The Irish folk star recently released My Dove, her contribution Goldenhair an album by composer Brian Byrne which puts music to the words and lyrics of James Joyce.

Multi award winning singer Cara who last appeared at the St Ives Festival five years ago, and the band for her hugely-anticipated return will include her husband Sam Lakeman, brother to Seth and Sean, on guitar and piano.

She said: "I'm very excited to be returning. I absolutely love Cornwall and I so rarely get to perform there.

"The last time I played the festival was back in 2012 and I remember having a fantastic show.

"After the concert the whole band and I ended up in an improvised cabaret sketching session in a painting club until 2am."

Cara's awards and accolades include the Meteor Music Award for Best Irish Female and Tatler's Woman Of The Year in Music, and she has appeared at prestigious concert halls and festivals all over the world.

She took the Album of the Year prize at the BBC 2 Folk Awards - the biggest night on the British folk music scene - in 2010 after achieving the double in 2002 with the Horizon Award for best newcomer and the Best Traditional Song prize for her rendition of Black is The Colour.

After more than 25 years on the folk scene, Cara released her first Christmas album - Upon a Winter's Night - last November.
