Visitors will be transported back in time at Pendennis Castle this summer as budding lords and ladies of every age experience the sights and entertainments of an authentic medieval celebration.

Wearing the colours of their regions, blue for north, green for west, gold for east and red for south, courageous knights will do battle in the joust. Spectators can cheer on their favourite in the contest of mounted skill at arms, as the knights pit all their strength against each other in thrilling competitions, testing their skills on horseback to the limit.

As well as watching the knights compete to prove their superior power and chivalrous skills in the arena, everyone can make merry with a feast of medieval treats and entertainment. The sport of kings will be in the castle grounds, and in the air above, as Raphael Historic Falconry show off some of their birds of prey in the mews. The birds will take to the air in outstanding displays of the skills that monarchs would have mastered as part of any hunting trip.

There will also be music from talented medieval musicians, and a jester who will be playing the fool with outrageous japes and tomfoolery.

Children can take part in junior jousting and melee in the kid’s activity area and all ages can take part in have a go archery. And, for the brave, the fearsome medieval executioner will share his most gruesome and gory stories - listen if you dare!

Let the contest begin.
