A pair of run-loving mums from Helston have embarked on a fundraising journey leading up to next year's London Marathon.

Navy wife Naomi Astill and single mum-of-three Chloe Morgado have taken on the joint title of Marathon Mummies for their challenge to raise more than £3,000 between them for WellChild - a national charity providing care for seriously ill children, young people and their families across the UK.

To help raise this figure they are organising a number of events, which included a Beach Boot Camp at Poldhu with Keith Jacka of Fitness Wild and Tayna Patterson-Jones, which raised £120.

Ross Hocking, who owns the Poldhu Beach Café, allowed them to hold the session in front of the café and provided everyone taking part with hot drinks and breakfast afterwards.

Their next fundraiser will be a pub quiz and raffle taking place at the Black Swan in Gweek on Thursday, October 19 from 8pm. Tables can be booked for the event in advance, but only for those wishing to eat beforehand.

A Fitness Fair due to take place on September 23 has now been postponed until the New Year.

Chloe and Naomi said: “The aim of our fundraisers - as well as raise lots of funds for WellChild - is to get the local community talking about us and give businesses the opportunity to get their names known.

“Anyone can follow us via our Marathon Mummies Facebook page and donate via our giving page if they would like to support us. We are also very grateful of any donations for our raffles or auction style bids from local businesses or people. We always make sure to give them a mention on our page and at our events where relevant too.”

The pair’s Facebook page can be found at Marathon Mummies, or alternatively donations can be made via uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/marathonmummies.
