Helston Theatre Company has announce the cast of their forthcoming production of Oklahoma!

Their October musical, which is usually filled by the recently disbanded Helston Methodist Church Drama Group, takes Helston Theatre Company up to performing four shows a year.

In 1906 things are changing in Oklahoma territory, and the people need to adapt with it. Two romances run alongside a high-spirited rivalry between the farmers and cowboys of the area, causing tension between all parties, as well as Laurey’s farmhand, Jud Fry, trying to stop Curly from getting to the girl he has obsessed over for a very long time.

Playing the charismatic cowboy, Curly McClain, is Adam Ford, who was most recently seen in Helston playing Benny in RENT. Also last seen in Helston Theatre Company’s RENT as Maureen, is Stephanie Rosewarne, who will play the tormented heroine Laurey Williams.

Effervescent and flirtatious, Ado Annie will be played by Helston favourite Bethany Lyne, who played the Fairy Godmother in Helston Theatre Company’s sell out production of Cinderella in January. Playing opposite her as Will Parker will be Michael Blundell, who personified the loveable Buttons in the same pantomime.

Linda Masterson will take the role of Laurey’s Aunt Eller, while HTC chairman and vice chairman (and Blaber father and son) will play Andrew Carnes and Ali Hakim respectively. Jud Fry will be played by Steve Kingsman.

Oklahoma! runs nightly from October 16 to 21 with a Saturday matinee. For tickets, visit helstontheatrecompany.co.uk; call 01726 8795000; or call into Gillian’s Larder in Meneage Street, Helston.
