Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust dietitian Rachael Brandreth has won the 2017 Complete Nutrition Award for Paediatric Nutrition Professional of the Year.

Rachel has worked hard to establish a tertiary weight management service for young children in Cornwall, as well as having leading roles in national work with the British Dietetic Association, including sitting on the all party parliamentary group for a fit and healthy childhood, and being instrumental in the ‘Chuck the Junk at the Checkout’ campaign.

Busy mum Rachel also runs a family food blog (doubleyummy.uk) promoting healthy lifestyle choices and providing up-to-date evidence-based information.

She said: “I am honoured and thrilled to have won this award. I am lucky enough to work with a fab, passionate and innovative team in Cornwall and feel privileged to volunteer with and learn from such great dietitians in the BDA’s Obesity Specialist group.

"I’m also continually inspired by, and thankful for, the support of some great dietitians and friends on social media. Without all of these people I would not be accepting this award. Getting it right in the early years gives the foundation for happier and healthier lives in the longer term. Thank you to everyone who voted as it means a lot to me.”

Rachael, who’s also celebrating starting a new role at RCHT as professional lead for dietetics, is now looking forward to a trip to the presentation event in London on September 27.
