A promotional film showcasing Falmouth’s diverse and valued business scene has been produced by the Falmouth Business Improvement District (BID).

Falmouth for Business is the latest in a series of videos funded and co-ordinated by the BID. They shine a spotlight on aspects of the town, including its community, coast and events, as part of the ongoing creative output that celebrates Falmouth’s distinctiveness and diversity.

It also represents another project delivered following Falmouth’s win in the Great British High Street Awards, where the town was named Britain’s Best Coastal Community, beating 900 other towns in the process.

Following an open invitation to Falmouth’s business community, filming took place during the spring and summer, exploring what makes award-winning Falmouth a conducive place for doing business.

Footage and interviews taken from over 25 businesses who wished to participate in the three-minute production is included. The video highlights how Falmouth’s geographical location fosters an entrepreneurial spirit, giving rise to a variety of sectors operating innovatively and often in collaboration - hospitality, professional services, digital, retail, marine, education and the arts.

From High Street and The Moor, to Events Square and the coast, the film sheds light on how the town supports an eclectic range of national and independent businesses who are proud to call the Falmouth their home.

Richard Wilcox, Falmouth BID manager, said: “Working productively with our partners, we are constantly looking at ways we can further improve the Falmouth offer and showcase all that is vibrant and exciting about our special town. We were delighted that many proactive businesses wanted to engage with us on this project and as a result, we could highlight some of the passion and pride that people have towards running their business here in Falmouth."

Commenting on their participation, Judith Hann, CEO of The Poly, said: “Working in Falmouth is a privilege; not only do we have great shops, creative people and a beautiful setting but the support we get from the Town Team is second to none. That’s why we believe we should shout about what the town has to offer and encourage others to get involved with the team to help shape our future.”

Justin Olosundé, head of the Falmouth Marine School, added: "The staff and students are very proud to support this film which we feel captures the essence of our beloved town. We look forward to developing our warm relationship with the Falmouth BID team and will continue to support its work in forging links between local companies.”

Jerome Browne, Manager at M&S Falmouth, said: “We are very proud to help support profile raising efforts in the area. The film really has engaged with many businesses based in the town, across numerous sectors and really does demonstrate the varied offer that exists in Falmouth.”

The film is now available to watch on Falmouth’s official destination website, falmouth.co.uk.
