Members of Penryn Ladies rugby team spent the day advertising the opportunities for women's rugby at the club at the Falmouth and Exeter Students' Union's freshers' fair on Sunday.

A handful of Penryn's highly successful ladies' team gathered at the event at the Penryn Campus which was laid on to let new students at the two universities just what opportunities there are on their new doorstep. The players spent the day promoting the women's game.

The on Tuesday, Penryn Ladies' team led a free session at the Memorial Ground for players who are completely new to the game and wanted to give rugby a try.

Penryn RFC's girls' and women's section continues to grow and offers players of a wide range of ages a friendly and supportive place to learn the game or develop their existing skills alongside players who have enjoyed significant success at both club and county level.

The club, based at the Memorial Ground in Kernick Road, has four female sides - Under 13s, Under 15s, Under 18s and the successful senior ladies' side who play in the RFUW's South-West Two South Division, finishing in third place last season. They scored more points (524) than any other team in the division and conceded the fewest at only 52.

Penryn Ladies RFC captain Jessica Howell said: "The England Ladies' success this summer continues to inspire us all. Women's rugby is well and truly on the map and if you want to get involved, Penryn is the best place to be."
