Head to Falmouth’s Pendennis Castle this half term and experience Halloween at one of the country’s spookiest spots.

The Tudor fortress has just been named as number four in a list of English Heritage’s ten spookiest sites, as voted for by members of staff across the charity’s 400 plus castles and abbeys, historic houses and palaces. Brave visitors can discover what makes Pendennis so spine-chilling with special after-hours tours this Halloween.

Join the castle’s scary story-tellers for a Spooky Halloween Tour on the evenings of October 26 and 27 and see Pendennis transformed into a horrifying haunted Cornish castle. Your tour guides are a cast of creepy characters who are set to scare with tales of ghostly apparitions, dastardly deeds, and ghoulish goings-on from the castle’s past.

Families can enjoy the terrifying tales in tours at 5.30pm and 6.30pm, before the fear factor is taken up a level for adult only tours at 7.30pm.

Young spook spotters will take centre stage during daylight hours with Haunted Half Term fun from October 23-27. Discover Pendennis’ petrifying past with some terrible Tudor characters, and join in crafts and activities around the castle grounds. Come dressed to scare for the chance to win a prize in the daily kids' costume competition.

“Where could be better to spend a spine-tingling Halloween evening than a centuries old castle?” said event manager Ella Harrison. “Packed with dark corners, creaky doors, and hundreds of years of history, it’s the perfect place for a cast of creepy characters to hide in the shadows. The focus is firmly on fun, but of course we’ll be doing our very best to make the most of the atmospheric setting to really make it an All Hallow’s Eve to remember."
