The official #LoveFalmouth calendar, showcasing the 12 winning images from the very well received photography competition has been launched and is on sale at a variety of outlets across the town.

The Falmouth BID co-ordinated the six-month long initiative which took place from April to September, and prompted an enthusiastic and passionate response from hundreds of residents, visitors and students. The competition was run exclusively across the town’s official social media platforms with people invited to upload images via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram using the #LoveFalmouth hashtag.

It carried monthly themes such as #Adventure and #Community. Over 600 people responded and after some tough decisions by the judging panel, 12 shots which selected to represent a month in the new calendar.

Accompanying the entries were touching, humorous and engaging quotes, demonstrating the connection and strength of feeling people have with Falmouth. The calendar will display the winners’ photographs along with their stories.

Richard Wilcox, Falmouth BID manager, said: “This has been a lovely project to be involved in as it has connected so many people, businesses and organisations with our special town.

"I’d like to thank our partners and prize sponsors - the Falmouth Packet, WESUP, Koru Kayaking, St Michael’s Hotel and Spa, Fal River, South West Bars & Events, Marks & Spencer and Falmouth Festivals – who have greatly supported.

"We’ve been delighted with the response to the competition which demonstrates the strength of positive feeling towards Falmouth. We’re looking forward to sharing the images via the calendar with the people of Falmouth, their friends and family in time for Christmas.”

One of the winners Lee Stephens added: “Falmouth is my home and I love to photograph my experiences and share them on social media with the hashtag #LoveFalmouth. I was delighted that I have been able to take this to the next level and enter the competition.

"It’s a terrific idea that gets people engaged with the town and I’m really pleased that I will be represented in the first official #LoveFalmouth calendar.”

The project has also partnered with Cornish charity Cornwall Hospice Care for the calendar, with £1 from each sale being donated to the organisation.

The #LoveFalmouth calendars are now on sale at Moor News, The Poly, Bottlebank, Octopus, Falmouth Art Gallery, Hazelphron Herbs, Picnic Café, The Natural Store, Tea by the Sea and Cornwall Hospice Care shop.
