A Camborne pub smashed its freehold guide price when auctioneers called time at £185,000 in their latest sale.
The Railway Tavern in Trevu Road went under the hammer with planning consent for three homes. Placed for auction by receivers, it sold at £55,000 above the lower range of its guide after a bidding war.
It was among the West Country lots listed for sale by the regional land and property auctioneers Clive Emson. Senior auction valuer Katie Semmens said: “There was tremendous interest in this well-known public house with fierce bidding at auction. The new owner, who is local to the area, now has the option of breathing new life into the pub as a going concern, following the planning permission or considering an alternative scheme subject to the necessary consents.”
As well as the public house, the property has a three bedroom flat upstairs, a garden, off-street parking and a sizeable outbuilding.
