Cornwall Hospice Care will kick off its 2017 Santa Series in Truro on Sunday, December 3, with the first of four Santa Fun Runs planned in the run up to Christmas.

As well as the events in Truro, Helston, Falmouth and Padstow, this year will also see a Santa Cycle leaving from Wadebridge.

Hundreds of people are already signed up to put on the red suit and raise money for the charity, which provides 24/7 specialist care across St Julia’s Hospice, Mount Edgcumbe Hospice and in the community with their new neighbourhood hubs. Members of the public can sign up and join in at Truro on Sunday, December 3, Wadebridge and Padstow on Saturday, December 9, Falmouth on Saturday, December 16, and Helston on Sunday, December 17.

Oli Hoare, head of fundraising at Cornwall Hospice Care, said: “We are very excited about this year’s Santa Series. These events are always full of festive cheer. Seeing hundreds of people come together to raise money for our charity is always inspiring. To all those who have already signed up I would like to say a huge thank you for helping to fund the specialist care we provide. To all those thinking about it, it really is a case of the more the merrier. Funds raised from your registration fee and sponsorship will go directly towards funding our bereavement counsellors, nursing staff, doctors, catering staff, therapists and housekeepers that make our hospices safe and supportive places to be during difficult times.”

All ages are invited to take part in the events, sponsored this year by sponsored by Atkins Ferrie Wealth Management, and registration costs £12 for an adult and £7 for a child, including a Santa suit, with under fives taking part for free. There’s also a mince pie and a medal for every Santa across the finish line.
