Members of Cormac's gardens' team recently teamed up with the Rotary Club of Penryn to help youngsters from the town's primary school plant hundreds of crocuses corms in Trelawney Park.
The planting was carried out in support of Rotary International's Purple4Polio campaign. The purple crocus is the symbol of the campaign, which aims to eradicate polio across the world.
Pupils from Penryn Primary Academy grabbed their spades and set to work with members of the local Rotary club, including president, Ann Congdon, her daughter, Nicola and Jim Henderson; and the Cormac gardeners. Despite much mud and earthworms hundreds of crocus corms were eventually planted and everyone involved is now looking forward to seeing a beautiful purple display of flowers next spring.
