The Palm Community Cafe at the Dracaena Centre in Falmouth has become "a victim of its own success" and is in urgent need of volunteers to help deliver the popular service.
The cafe is open between 9.30am and 1pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, serving up a brunch-style menu which includes full English breakfasts, toasted sandwiches and specials of the day. It caters for up to 100 people a week, but currently has only nine volunteers so is hoping to recruit more.
Cafe coordinator, Claire Allen, said: "There are three roles - KPs, customer service and cooking - and we can fit what people can do with what they want to do. We only have nine volunteers at the moment because we have had a lot of people who have got jobs, which is wonderful and is what we want, but it has left us a bit short.
"The cafe has become a victim of our own success which is great and shows it's needed within the community. Ideally we'd like people over 16, anyone with an interest in customer service or catering itself would be lovely."
Volunteers are not expected to cover all three sessions a week and would be accepted even if they can only commit to an hour a day. Anyone interested, or wanting to learn more, is invited to pop into the cafe and have a chat with Claire; call the Dracaena Centre on 01326 319414 or email cafe@dracaenacentre.org.
