The Falmouth Fundraising Group for Cornwall Hospice Care, which has raised more than half a million pounds over the last 26 years, has bid farewell to one of its members who had been there since the start.

Committee member Jane Frapwell decided to stand down at the group's recent Ladies' Day which was held at the Falmouth Hotel saying that while she had "enjoyed everything" about the group, she now wanted to "catch up with life" and spend more time with her children and grandchildren.

Jane was presented with a bouquet by Angela Flamank, from Cornwall Hospice Care, and group chair, Christine Morris, who said: "Jane will be missed by the group for her wealth of knowledge and hard work," before wising her happiness in her "retirement."

The speaker at Ladies' Day was sculptor Simon Thomas, who designed and sculpted the cross at the entry to Cornwall at Saltash. The afternoon entertainment was by Emily Payne who sang songs from the musicals. The event raised a further £1,849.16 for Cornwall Hospice Care.
