The people of Truro and beyond have something to look forward to after Christmas with the announcement that the City of Lights parade will now take place on Wednesday, January 31.
The popular lantern parade was due to be held last month, but was postponed after strong winds and rain were forecast. Truro's Christmas lights were switched on, but without the spectacle of the parade.
Announcing the new date, the City of Lights team thanked all those who have supported the event for the past 21 years and said they "very much look forward to sharing this celebration with the local community and visitors in the new year."
The City of Lights lantern parade could not happen without the continued support by all community members, sponsors, schools, artists, musicians and volunteers involved. This year’s parade is sponsored by Alverton Hotel, Bonhams, Cornwall College, Cultivator, FEAST, Mannings, Newquay Zoo, Paignton Zoo and Living Coasts, The Old Grammar School, One Vision with Cornwall Council, Red Row Housing, Seasalt Clothing, Sole Plaice, Stormfront, Taylor Wimpey, Truro BID, Truro City Council, Truro & Penwith College, Waitrose, Western Power and Wolfrock.
