The sky above Falmouth Bay will be lit by a spectacular fireworks display on new year's eve as the town sees in 2018 in style.

The headline sponsor for the event is the Royal Duchy Hotel on Falmouth's seafront, which has funded the display and been the driving force behind the event, which will take place on the bay side of Pendennis Castle at the stroke of midnight.

“We’ve worked closely with Richard Gates and the town management team to make this happen,” said hotel director Peter Brend. “The hope is that it will become an exciting new calendar event for Falmouth and certainly all the indications are that people are really looking forward to it.

"Why should we have to turn on the TV to see fireworks in London when we’ve got such a magnificent location here? The bay provides a perfect backdrop.”

Pendennis Castle will be closed to the public on the night, but Cliff Road will be an ideal vantage point.
