Supporters of Cornwall Hospice Care have helped raise an amazing £26,850 by buying and selling tickets for the annual Christmas Prize Draw.
The money in turn will fund 1,278 hours of nursing care across the Cornish charity’s two hospices in Hayle and St Austell.
The draw took place in the charity’s pop up Christmas shop on Lemon Street in Truro with head of fundraising, Oli Hoare and lottery manager, Sarah Vincent conducting the proceedings and thanking their supporters via a live Facebook video.
Oli opened the draw proceedings with the message: “We are extremely grateful to everyone who supported our Christmas Bumper Draw and bought a ticket. Their generosity has helped fund 1,278 hours of nursing care across both our hospices - St Julia’s Hospice in Hayle and Mount Edgcumbe Hospice in St Austell - an incredible result for the draw. Congratulations to all our winners and thank you to all our players."
Sarah added: “It’s always a pleasure to phone the winners with the good news that they’ve won a prize in our lottery, especially at this time of year.”
Paula Carrivick of St Austell won the £2,000 prize; Alison Wood of Bude won £500 and Mrs Noble of Truro scooped the £250 prize. There were also ten runners up prizes of £25.
