A group of 14 former employees who worked for the Falmouth Packet at various stages from the 1960s through to the 1980s met at Falmouth Golf Club recently for their annual Christmas lunch.
The lunches were started by Arthur Allen about five years ago, with only five people attending in the first year, but since then the get-together has slowly become more popular with more people keen to meet up again. It is hoped the number will continue to rise as more people are contacted via social media.
Former employees attending the lunch worked in various departments, including advertising, production, editorial and circulation at the old Falmouth Packet works at Ponsharden, on the site of what is now the Lidl supermarket. The average age of the 14 staff attending this year was 71-and-a-half, with two of the former employees being in their 90th year.

Arthur Allen said: “I’m delighted by the turn out and hope it will continue for many years to come."
If any ex-Falmouth Packet employees wish to attend the next lunch email Mike Truscott at mike@goldenreplay.com or Sue Morant at smorant154@gmail.com.
