Penzance Leisure Centre kick-started the new year by holding their biggest open day of the year which saw families able to take part in a range of activities from swimming to karate demonstrations completely for free.

The open day raised £179.84 for Cornwall Hospice Care. Rees Brown Duty Manager and Marketing Manager for the leisure centre said “I chose the charity, which runs St Julia’s Hospice in Hayle, because it is something that is personal to many of us that work here and we have all experienced first hand the amazing work that Cornwall Hospice does.”

"Penzance Leisure Centre is committed to providing opportunities for community groups and charities to communicate their message to the wide range of people using the leisure centre. It makes sense for us to involve the wider community and spread the word about the important work that local charities do for our community."

A cheque was presented to Cornwall Hospice Care Community Fundraiser, Sarah Newton who said “We are very grateful to Penzance Leisure Centre for their support. The money they have raised will be used by Cornwall Hospice Care to continue to provide high quality specialist care 24 hours a day to patients with terminal illness and their families”.
