The 2018 Nick Darke Writers’ Award is now open for submissions. The award celebrates the life of Cornish playwright, who wrote in many forms but earned his living in the world of theatre, screen and radio, and offers the opportunity to win £6,000.
The award is open to all writers aged 16 and over. Applicants will be expected to provide a full stage play script with a one-page synopsis by 5pm on Monday, May 21. The longlist committee will reduce the applications to a final shortlist of eight. The winner will be announced in the autumn.
The Nick Darke Award is funded solely through Falmouth University’s Academy of Music and Theatre Arts (AMATA) and the School of Writing and Journalism. The relationship between the award and Falmouth recognises the achievements and contribution of Nick Darke to the arts and aims to continue his legacy through the promotion of new talent.
