COUNCIL tax is set to rise in Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge next year after the town council’s proposed budget for 2018/19 was passed.
It will see an increase of £4.43 per Band D property per year which equates to 37p per week.
The town council says it needs £600,000 a year to maintain local services and has increased its precept due to central Government cutbacks leaving them with £20,000 less than last year.
Services run by the town council include the Princess Theatre community space, maintaining cemeteries, statutory responses to planning applications, maintaining allotments and supporting youth projects.
The council has agreed to support the Number 67 bus to Wells.
