Starting from this weekend icy winds from Siberia will bring one of the coldest periods since 2013, according to the Met Office.

Becoming even colder with widespread overnight frosts and feeling bitter by day with a marked windchill. Friday and Saturday should remain dry, but scattered snow showers are possible on Monday.

Cold air from northern and eastern Europe is heading west over the next few days. By Monday temperatures in the UK will be close to or below freezing, even in the middle of the day.

The wind chill will make the cold weather feel bitter over the coming days, especially into the start of next week.

Temperatures will "feel like" 0c on Friday dropping to -3c by next Tuesday.

Snow is being forecast for next Thursday along with strong winds.
