The Commonwealth flag was hoisted above Falmouth's Municipal Buildings on The Moor on Monday as the town took part in commemorations for Commonwealth Day.
Gathering on the steps of the buildings on The Moor, a message from the Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Patricia Scotland QC, was read by Lt Cdr Trevor Brookes, RNO Falmouth, and was followed by the Commonwealth affirmation read by town clerk Mark Williams.
The flag was then raised by the mayor's police cadet, Chelsea Heidstrom, before the mayor's chaplain, Father Ian Froom, said a prayer for the Commonwealth.
The service was also attended by the mayor and mayoress, Grenville and June Chappel; deputy mayor, Trish Minson; Ruth Grimmer, head of professional services at the University of Exeter; and Harry Bishop, FXU president community and welfare.
