MP George Eustice, braved the cold winter weather to visit award winning Victoria Park in Redruth last week.
His visit had been arranged by the Friends of Victoria Park and members of Redruth Bowling Club to highlight the excellent community work that has, and continues, to take place at this "green oasis" located in the heart of Redruth.
The friends group and the bowling club work in partnership with Cormac gardeners to keep the park looking beautiful all year round which has resulted in the park recently being awarded with its first Green Flag.
Recent fundraising by the friends group in conjunction with Tesco Bags of Help initiative and Cornwall Council has seen new accessible play equipment being installed.
Mr Eustice, MP for Camborne, Redruth and Hayle, said: "Victoria Park boasts one of the best bowling greens in the county, a wonderful array of plants and a new children's play area that includes equipment for disabled children.
"The park has done well with the support of local residents. There are plans to do more and possibly replace the bandstand next."
