Queens of the Stone Age are playing the Eden Sessions on July 3, which will be one of their only two UK shows this summer.

The band will be making their appearance off the back of critically acclaimed seventh album, Villains, which came out last summer and was their first to top the UK albums chart.

Villains was produced by Mark Ronson and was nominated for the best rock album at this year's Grammys.

Rita Broe, Eden’s marketing director, said: "Queens of the Stone Age are a band we have wanted to bring to the Eden Sessions for years so we’re incredibly excited to confirm this show.

"They bring a hard rock edge to what is shaping up to be the best and most varied line-up in the history of the Sessions."

Formed in 1996 in California's Coachella valley, Queens of the Stone Age are recognised as one of the greatest rock bands around today.

They have an impressive catalogue and have collaborated with some of the most legendary names in modern rock, like Dave Grohl and Trent Reznor.

The band are also thought to give one of the best live performances in the world, having previously been named best live band at the NME Awards and best live act at the Q Awards.

The group have gone through a series of lineup changes throughout the years, with Josh Homme remaining the only permanent member.

They released their debut self-titled album in 1998, and the critically acclaimed Rated R in 2000, which featured tracks like Feel Good Hit of the Summer and The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret.

Queens of the Stone Age join Gary Barlow (June 6); Massive Attack (June 15); Young Fathers (June 16); Levellers, New Model Army, Reef, Dreadzone and Ginger Wildheart (June 23); Jack Johnson (July 5); and Björk (July 7); for the 2018 Eden Sessions.
