A new opticians for Helston is raising glasses of a different kind today to mark its official opening.

Matthews Opticians and Hearing Care has opened its doors on Coinagehall Street, in the shop were Vision Express has traded for the last ten years.

The current team are all remaining at the practice, including resident optometrist Adam Matthews.

Today they are officially celebrating becoming an independent practice with an event in store, at which the public will be able to enjoy a glass of bubbly, cake, one-off discounts and win raffle prizes.

Helston’s mayor Gillian Geer joined the party earlier, which began with a ceremony with well-known local GP Dr John Lansdowne, who cut a ribbon to mark the official opening of the practice.

Store director and optometrist Adam Matthews said: “We look forward to bringing a more customer focused, personalised experience to the community of Helston, offering a stylish and competitive range of eyewear.”

Matthews Opticians and Hearing Care will be taking over the patient list of Vision Express.
