Photos from Gyllyngvase beach today (Monday) could have been taken from the pages of a Where's Wally? book as people flocked to the seaside to enjoy record-breaking Bank Holiday Monday heat.
Heavy traffic blocked Spernen Wyn road as people headed down to the beach from the town, and likewise a queue for ice cream spilled out into Queen Mary Gardens.
A high temperature of 28.7 degrees celcius was recorded by the Met Office today in London and people around the country made the most of the heatwave on their day off after making it through snowstorms only two months ago.
The temperature smashed the previous record for this time of year, which was 24.2 degrees celcius.
Luckily, the heatwave coincided with the RNLI's return to patrolling the beaches for their summer season on Saturday May 5.
