The Falmouth RNLI Appeal was the beneficiary when local company Falmouth Marine Network presented a cheque for £650 to Falmouth Lifeboat Management Group Chairman Chris Price at the company’s headquarters.

This donation took the appeal well over the original £100,000 target and it is now hoped that a final total of £150,000 will be reached by the time the appeal finally closes later in June.

The Appeal’s Deputy Chair Paul Wickes, who is also Cornwall Marine Network’s Chief Executive Officer said: ‘The team at Cornwall Marine Network were aware of my involvement with supporting the Falmouth RNLI Appeal and decided to undertake a number of events during the last year in order to build their donation. This included a raffle, cake sales, and proceeds from a beauty products sale evening. This was a magnificent team effort and resulted in a donation of £650 to support the Appeal.’

He added: ‘As Deputy Chair of the Appeal, I am both delighted and humbled by the Falmouth RNLI Appeal reaching the incredible amount of £126,000. The contributions from local people have been fantastic and exceeded our hope of achieving a £100,000 contribution towards the extension and refurbishment of the Falmouth Lifeboat Station This generosity will ensure the excellent local crew and volunteers continue to support local and visiting mariners with the latest design when the new inshore lifeboat is delivered next year. On behalf of the Appeal committee members we thank everyone who has helped throughout the last year.'

On receiving the cheque, Falmouth Lifeboat Management Group Chairman Chris Price thanked the Cornwall Marine Network team for their support which he said will continue to help Falmouth RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews save lives at sea.
