Police have issued a statement calling for witnesses of a serious collision on the A30 at Loggans in Hayle.

A BMW 5 Series and Ford Transit van collided head on at around 2.30pm yesterday (June 19) which caused the road to close for around four and a half hours.

Three people involved in the accident were taken to hospital after sustaining minor injuries.

The driver of the BMW, a man in his seventies from Penzance, was taken to Treliske hospital along with the driver of the van, a man in his twenties from Redruth.

A woman in her fifties, also from Penzance, who was the passenger in the BMW, was airlifted to Derriford Hospital as she was initially thought to have sustained serious injuries. It was eventually revealed that she had only sustained a minor arm injury.

Emergency services and the Serious Collisions Investigation Unit attended the scene whilst the road was closed.

Officers from the Roads Policing Team are appealing for witnesses and would also like to hear from anyone who may have dashcam footage that could assist with enquiries.
