AN historical garden near Falmouth which exclusively opens for charities, will be holding an open day on Sunday, July 15 between 2-5pm in aid of the Merlin MS Centre.

Above fields and woodland leading to the Helford River, the award winning Trenarth Gardens in Constantine, provides four acres of both formal and wooded gardens steeped in history.

People are encouraged to come along and soak up the atmosphere of these beautiful gardens, the history of which dates back to the 18th Century.

The grounds contain a mix of formal gardens including; a prize-winning vegetable garden, herbaceous beds, and a substantial rockery area, as well as more natural areas that encourage an array of wildlife.

There is also a refurbished potting shed originally built at the end of World War II.

There will be various refreshments including delicious cream teas and plants for sale.

Admission is £5 for adults and under 16s are free. Dogs on a lead are welcome.

The opening is part of the ‘Merlin MS Centre Open Garden Scheme’ which will see in total five gardens opening their doors in aid of the Merlin MS Centre.

The Merlin MS Centre is an independent charity located in mid-Cornwall. Its charitable aim is to provide subsidised therapy for people who are affected by Multiple Sclerosis (MS). The charity also offers therapy and support to those with other neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s, Cerebral Palsy, Stroke, ME/ Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

On average, 70 people a day use the facilities.
